There is an anual event at a shrine known as Imamiya Ebisu Shrine from 9th of January to 11th. This event is to pray for a thriving business.
At Shrine, everywhere, you can see one face known as "Ebessan" which comes from "Ebisu", is the Japanese god of fishermen and luck. He is one of the Seven Gods of Fortune.
There are "Three Big Ebisu". They are held at Nishinomiya-Ebisu Shrine, Horikawa-Ebisu Shrine and Imamiya-Ebisu Shrine. People visit Ebisu Shrine and got some charms getting them on Bamboo grass. :)
I served at Imamiya-Ebisu Shrine for those three days in the past. It's said in Japan that the coldest time of the year. My hands were almost frozen and cuts with my hands because of bamboo grass though, I could have lots experience I think I would never ever had.
If you have a chance to come over Japan in this season, actually it's just for 3 days, there are many Ebisu-Shrines in Japan, not those three big ones. It's worth to visit, feel the atmosphere how Japanese pray for their thriving business and enjoy Shinto Shrine ritual.
