Just in case to those who are with Great Dane in their life.
Writing below is what I had seen and how it had been changing on my dane named Jasmine since the day when she had fell into a critical condition in October last year, 2015.
First of all, I have to say, she’s totally now.
She has perfectly recovered now. :)
Anyway, here it is.
Jasmine was dying, she was trying to get through some difficulties every day during 2 months.
- On the 30th of October, it happened.
Her physical condition had suddenly changed. I hurried on my way to a vet. Jasmine took a blood test and was put on a drip, the vet said “Within three days, you can see how she would be, meansshe would die or not."
I was really depressed.

- On the 31st of October,
Went to the vet again, her physical conditions was getting worse every second. The vet gave her a drip again.
The fever was rising day day day, it was higher than the previous day, it was 40.7 degrees.
After the vet, took for a drive with her to let her eyes see the familiar spots that she was once willing to hang out . At every spot I stopped a car, looked like she still remembered those places under the state in a hazy.
Back at home, she didn't eat anything. She refused putting anything in her mouth at all until night. At night, when I was having dinner just right next to her, which was like "A farewell party". There were some surprising happened. She suddenly started insisting me to give her something to eat, drank water a bit and had Dashimaki which is one of Japanese dishes. She didn’t eat anything though, except Dashimaki and Onigiri.
All day long, whenever she looked at me, she "said", “I don’t want to die
yet, there would be more things left behind I want to do with you if I
leave here.”During the night, she had kept her eyes open. She probably
was afraid of dying, I think she was thinking that she would be gone when she closed her eyes. It hurts my heart too much.
The Christmas Market was held in the center of the city, which was her favorite event in the winter but I knew that she wouldn't be able to see it this season. I couldn't any hope at that time. Then I brought here a small christmas tree for her instead.
In the middle of the night, she evacuated. The state and its color was very very bad, it was like tar. One day, I had heard something about “the sign” for dog. Dog takes black excreta which looks like tar before they dies. Her "tar" reminded me of this story when I saw her “tar”. I had prepared for her death.
- On Sunday, the 1st of November,
I was scared opening my eyes, had to face it but didn't want to see her not breathing for a second.
But, I found out that she was still breathing.
As the schedule, went to the vet in the early morning, after that, decided to take her to the ocean to see the ocean together, her favorite place.
Because, I thought she just survived one day, couldn't be sure if she would be alive over this night or not.
Arrived her favorite place, while she was spending at the field, she was drawing the sea breeze, her physical condition looked getting better or even more. I even didn't feel she hadn't high fever. Recalling that day, I think she looked happy to be seeing her favorite scenery.
- On the 2nd of November,
In the early morning, she vomited a bit.
Went to the vet and gave her a drip again. The vet was really really surprised because her physical condition had turned 180 degrees around. It could be much better.
Although, still couldn't be sure that she was ok, but definitely she looked better than the other days
I saw. The body temperature was 39.3 degrees. It looked like high but, normal body temperature for dog, the vet said. It made me relieved. She could raise her head barely, also excreted many times about at intervals of 2 hours. She had her favorite meat, 5-6 slices of Deer meat
and DASHIMAKI still.
- The 3rd of November,
She started with “a hasty breakfast” in the morning, she had lots.
When I saw it, I thought that a good condition would be back soon.
She had another meal for her lunch. Lots again.
Her body temperature was 38.5 degrees.
- The 4th of November,
Her appetite seemed getting much better and better day by day.
The vet was closed, but she was given 2 kinds of pills the last day she visited. She wasn’t given a drip on this day though, looked not bad that much.
Nothing appeared on her body or looking without a drip ill the night, I could finally be sure that she had restored from death. As of the previous day, looked she couldn't be stand without a drip so.
- The 5th November,
She insisted me to let her outside for a walk, she was more active, she couldn’t make her legs move still but, I think she smiled often.
- The 6th of November,
Went to the vet in the morning to report how her physical condition was running. The vet said that she still needed to be given 2 kinds of pills.
But, it’s not bad sign, the vet also looked relieved include me.
- The 10th of Nov,
She had started training using a wheel chair with some "fascination" (deer meat).
Went to the vet, he gave me 2 types of pills for her, for 5 days, at the same time he said it wouldn’t be needed to visit him after those pills were consumed.
Here is a video of her walking with a wheelchair. :)
- The 16th of Nov,
All things looked going well perfectly. She didn’t need to be given any kinds of pills anymore.
- Now, today, it’s on 29th of December,
She is doing training to handle a wheel chair well every day, a little.
Speaking of the cause of this serious illness, she has gotten 12 and a few months passed, it could be possibility considered with, though, here is what the vet diagnosed.
----> The vet explained with the examination result, he said "The cause which can be considered is sort of her inner being; liver, a gall builder, pancreas. Bacteria “have been invading” start with the space between her teeth, taking many years, which have been infected her inner being and the blood".
Here are the pictures attached from the day, on 15th of November, when my family celebrated for her recovery from the serious illness with some present, cake and the latest beaujolais for 2015. The plate on the cake says "Congratulations on your recovering! It's very happy to have you here again!" :)

In this world, there may be other Great Danes that got through like the same situation in their life. Hope what I wrote above could be any help for Dane's owners.
Thank you for all of your support in 2015. Enjoy the holidays. Most of all, I hope all your wishes come true this year.
